Johnny barrett

just one more time

Johnny Barrett was one of the most celebrated names in the music business in Ireland with a career spanning almost half a century. A native of Dromina, Co. Cork  he joined the Shandrum  Ceili  Band at the age of 16 and later the Viceroy Showband.   In 1964 he quit the music business and joined Cork County Council.  His love of music however, won out and he returned to the music scene in 1973, this time as a one-man band. He was one of the most popular and sought-after entertainers on the music circuit, playing a bit of everything for punters to dance along to, from waltzes to rock ‘n roll. He also travelled extensively to Britain and the United States.  Sadly, Johnny passed away in December 2008.  His music lives on.
