PEGGY SWEENEY cd | dvd

peggy sweeney was born in rathea, listowel, county kerry. She learned many of her irish traditional songs from her mother kitty. she first met sean mccarthy in 1972 and over the years they had planned on her recording an album of sean’s songs. the recording commenced in 1990 shortly before sean passed away, and proved to be the success that sean had always predicted it would be.

A Silent Night / christmas 1914 is the first single released by peggy sweeney in over 8 years.

featuring a haunting rendition of the cormac McConnell song which tells the tale of the brief Christmas armistice of 1914 during world war I.
